Here’s some thoughts, impressions, ranting, fanboyism and such about Touhou arrange music from Reitaisai 5.
ALiCE’S EMOTiON – FANATIC HARDCORE RED LABEL & Cis-Trance – FANATIC HARDCORE BLACK LABEL
A collabortation between ALiCE’S EMOTiON and Cis-Trance. Two albums full of hardcore. Even the cover art is awesome! Easily one of the best, if not the best release from Reitaisai 5.
UI-70 – Riddles covered in flowers
One word: Amazing! This album sticks to being metal while playing around with various styles of metal from trash to acoustic and so on. Like always with all-metal albums, if you’re into metal, go for it. If you’re not into metal, feel free to ignore it.
CROW’SCLAW – CROSSFIRE BARRAGE
As usual, CROW’SCLAW delivers some great heavy metal with their new album. Like with Riddles covered in flowers, liking this album depends on wheter you like metal or not.
Kissing the Mirror × IRON ATTACK! – Scythe for the Guilty Riversides & IRON ATTACK! × Kissing the Mirror – BLADE OF ANCIENT TEMPLE
Another collaboration project. Some of the songs are pretty good, but I’m not too big fan of synth metal. Not quite as good as the two previous metal albums I mentioned.
IOSYS – 東方真華神祭 (touhou makashinsai)
Yawn… I almost fell asleep a couple of times while listening to this. In general, all that moe moe craziness is gone, the songs are mostly a lot slower and softer than before and forget about all the quirky stuff that used to make IOSYS stand out from everyone else. If you like hardcore, listen to Border of extacy, which is pretty damn good with it’s abusive lyrics. Everything else on this album is forgetable. At least I already forgot them.

Out of interest, did the copy of the UI-70 album you have have the third track cut off right at the end in a burst of static? Two different rips I’ve heard of it have both had the same flaw and I’m trying to find out if it was in the original audio or if both rips were from the same damaged source.

I think that’s how the 3rd track is supposed to end. I have a rip too, probably one of the two you have, so I can’t say anything about the original, but I think it sounds “too good” to be an error. Sure, it pops up out of nowhere, but it’s quite clean for an error and it fades away pretty normally. I don’t believe a real error would behave like that. If it was a real static error, it’d probably be louder and wouldn’t fade away nicely like that.
However, I am not ruling out the chance of error as it seems both rips of Riddles covered in flowers have been ripped by the same person. If there were to be another rip using different source CD with the same “error”, it would mean either all CDs have the same error or the burst of static was intended.
I’m afraid I couldn’t be of much help. We’ll just have to wait for one more rip or someone with the CD confirming wheter it’s just an error or not.
